In one of India's most remote and poor villages, Muthalamada, in the Palakkad district of India, can be found a truly wonderful work for children diagnosed and suffering from HIV/AIDS. In its second year, the shelter for HIV+ children is caring for 75 children, providing them as close to a normal life as possible. The Shelter offers both traditional and special education courses, presented by teachers and counselors who feel a calling to serve these children. The Shelter for HIV Children is one of several programs offered by the Sneham Trust. In accordance with the SladeChild Foundation's operating principles, the SladeChild Foundation has started its first year of support of the Shelter with a "start up grant" of $1,200 to help this new project get going while developing a relationship with us.
