The SladeChild Foundation works directly with the Ukraine Family's "Heart to Heart" program, which sponsors orphans, children from single parent homes and multi-children families who live in poverty and often suffer from health problems. This sponsorship program supplies basic necessities such as food, clothing and school supplies on an as-needed basis. The SladeChild Foundation is the U.S.
fiscal agent for the Ukranian Family, a 12-year old
Ukrainian charity, and has awarded the program an $8,400 grant. To the right are a few of the Ukrainian children who received Christmas gifts from the SladeChild Foundation in 2005. Founded in
1994, the Ukranian Family helps children and elderly people in need in Ternopil and the surrounding region by providing assistance with nutrition, clothes, medicine, medical help, education, and home repairs. One of the most important things about the "Heart to Heart" program is that letters can be exchanged between each child and the sponsor, which establishes an invisible connection that goes not only from heart to heart, but around the world. In 2005, SladeChild Foundation provided pots and pans for the kitchen at the elementary school in Ternopil. To the left is a photo of the students receiving one of the larger pots.
